HB 614 is BACK

Peach Pundit is saying that the House Plans on Attaching HB 614 into some other legislation in the last few days the session:

Rumor has it that the House will attempt include the language from the HB 614, the Prescription Drug Monitoring Act, onto another piece of legislation sometime tomorrow or on Sine Die.

This is an invasion of privacy. Nearly 10% of Americans take anti-depression or anti-anxiety medications. A number more are on sleep aids, and god knows how many of the elderly have pain medication for this and that in their cabinets.

This could also have ramifications for an individual getting claims approved with insurance companies. If you have been on some medications before, then it is possible they could deny your claim because it is a pre-existing condition. The American Cancer Society has also said that this type of law has a chilling effect on Doctors. Some are more afraid to write prescriptions they might feel are needed.

As is later noted in the PeachPundit article, this bill could be challenged as unconstitutional. While I believe it stands a fair chance of being stuck down, I would much rather have it defeated in the senate.

Please contact your State Representative and let them know you oppose this bill!!!

UPDATE: Insurance companies desperately want this bill and have bought themselves into getting it introduced. Funny how the sponsor is Republican Sharon Cooper and what does she do for a living? She is a medical administrator! And the co-sponsor Ron Stephens is a Pharmacist!
