Senator Inhofe (R-OK): Sotomayor may be influenced by her gender and race!

Oh wow:

"Of primary concern to me is whether or not Judge Sotomayor follows the proper role of judges and refrains from legislating from the bench. Some of her recent comments on this matter have given me cause for great concern. In the months ahead, it will be important for those of us in the U.S. Senate to weigh her qualifications and character as well as her ability to rule fairly without undue influence from her own personal race, gender, or political preferences."

Well, I'm sure being a rich white male has never contributed to any of Inhofe's stances or beliefs.

Well, at least as far as this issue of bias is concerned, there is a pretty big difference between being a Senator and being a Supreme Court justice.

Bias is to be expected (and is arguably good) among Senators, but the opposite is true in the Supreme Court.

I don't see how anyone can really think that a justice would not have bias. We should all be honest here and say that the judge is going to have political biases.
