AIDS Athens Event

I will continue my push of non-profits and private organizations with this even that is coming up too. AIDS Athens will be doing community service and allow free walk-in testing for the HIV/AIDS virus. As you know, HIV/AIDS is no longer a death threat, but must be diagnosed early to ensure longer-term survival. If you have not been tested recently and have engaged in any risky behaviors (unprotected sex, sharing needles, etc.) then please take advantage of this opportunity. The ABH has the story:

AIDS Athens will offer free walk-in testing and extended hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 29 in recognition of National HIV Testing Day.

In addition, AIDS Athens will host a community reception from 4-6 p.m. June 29 at its headquarters, 112 Park Ave. Athens-Clarke Mayor Heidi Davison will speak about the importance of testing and demonstrate the ease of taking an oral test.

AIDS Athens uses the OraQuick test in which participants receive their results in 20 minutes.
