Newt says U.S. Citizenship is based on Creator

Atheist watch out, Newt doesn't believe you have citizenship. He also doesn't think that he is a citizen of the world:

GINGRICH: I am not a citizen of the world. I am a citizen of the United States because only in the United States does citizenship start with our creator. [...] I think this is one of the most critical moments in American history. We are living in a period where we are surrounded by paganism.

He also seems to believe that Pagans are threatening and that we are surrounded by paganism. Wikipedia says that the following about Paganism:

Paganism is the blanket term given to describe religions and spiritual practices of pre-Christian Europe, and by extension a term for polytheistic traditions or folk religion worldwide seen from a Western or Christian viewpoint.

The term has been defined broadly, to encompass all of the religions outside the Abrahamic monotheistic group of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

Well, lets look at the breakdown of religion as of 2007:

According to a 2007 survey, the following is the order of religious preferences in the United States:

Christian: (78.4%)
no religion (16.1%)
Jewish (1.7%)
Buddhist (0.7%)
Muslim (0.6%)
Hindu (0.4%)
other (1.2%)

So, it seems that paganism makes up like 2.3% of Americans, if you include Hindu and Buddhist. Seems like Newt has gone crazy, again!
