Eric Massa, who defeated an entrenched Republican incumbent in 2008, is a rip-roaring advocate for single payer healthcare (and if not that, a public option that could eventually get us there) in the US. Given that a guy who toppled a Republican is such an outspoken advocate, we really should have Democrats who are in districts that are overwhelmingly Democratic standing strong on the issue. But they aren't. Gee, I wonder why.
