Furloughs "Small Government" at Work

I picked up the AJC this morning and read about the furloughs. It really surprises me that in a time where the Board of Regents just authorized University presidents to furlough employees, that conservatives in Georgia are still obsessing with tax cuts, even going so far as attacking Sonny Perdue for (sensibly) blocking a huge package of tax cuts that would've drained the state's ability to fund basic services.

Let's be clear here, these layoffs, furloughs, and cuts in services at every level that are hurting those who need them the most are the exact consequences of "small government" philosophy at work. It's not as pretty as the sloganeering about "fiscal conservatism" would have you think.
